Cardiologists manage coronary artery disease, heart failure, arrhythmias, valvular disease, congenital heart disease, and cardiac imaging. Subspecialization is the norm: interventional, electrophysiology, advanced heart failure, imaging, congenital. Mix of clinic, inpatient, and procedural work.

Lifestyle & practice

Fellowship hours 60 to 75. Attending varies: imaging is clinic-heavy, interventional is procedural and on-call. Compensation $500k to $700k+, among the highest in IM.
