Obstetrics and Gynecology
Women's reproductive health, pregnancy, surgery, and primary GYN care.
OB/GYNs deliver babies, manage high-risk pregnancies, perform surgery (hysterectomy, laparoscopy, robotic, oncologic), and provide primary GYN care. Combines surgical skill with longitudinal patient relationships. Three of the four fellowships are independently competitive.
Lifestyle & practice
Resident hours 70 to 80. Attending varies: academic 55 to 65, private practice 50 to 60 with substantial call. Comp $300k to $400k generalist, GYN-onc and REI higher.
